Cincinnati Cup Showcase: Day 2 Stars

Cincinnati Cup Showcase: Day 2 Stars
May 24, 2015

Sunday’s matches brought an end to the Cincinnati Cup at Voice of America Metro Park. As was the case on Saturday, some key players stood out during their respective games.

Here are Sunday’s biggest performers:

F Noah Bowden, Burlington Youth Burlington Bayhawks U17- An aggressive attacker with top-notch speed. He can also cross the ball to his fellow attackers with pinpoint accuracy. Needs to maintain his trash-talking, however, as he was warned and eventually ejected (red card) for his behavior.

F Gavin Benson, Victory Express U14- Tall, agile player who can outwork opponents for 50-50 balls. He also has a soft touch in box, keeping the ball on the ground to obtain goals.

D Coy Skinner, Tennessee United TUSC ‘02 U14- Physical defender who’s tough to get around. His tall body makes it easy for him to win headers at his level. He displays excellent leadership in controlling the back line.

MF/F Italo Deluca, Victory Express U14- Bears similar qualities to his teammate Gavin Benson. Tall, loves to be quick with the ball in between his feet. Can drop back and defend a little as well.

D/MF Carly Brown, Knoxville Football 98 Crush Rowdies U17- Outmuscles opponents for key 50-50 balls. Has some skills at playing midfield and can control the centerline, but was forced to defend for most of the day because of her team being blown out.

MF Adil Qureshi- Burlington Youth Burlington Bayhawks U17- Has premier speed and can lob the ball to perfect positions for his teammates. He also displayed a skill for on-point shooting.

F Nick Janulis, Schwaben Athletic Nationals U17- A tall attacking forward who loves to shoot the ball and can shoot it accurately. He had a hat trick in his Sunday game. Not especially quick for his leg size, however.

MF Austin Aber, Victory Express U14- An attack-heavy midfielder with breakneck speed for his age. He can also be physical when needed (trying to steal from an opponent), but gets dejected easily when something doesn’t go his way (50-50s, no-calls).

F Cassidy Hatfield, Cincinnati West CWSC United 96/97 U17- A wide-right attacker that can shoot and pass with accuracy. She also has some sneaky speed to outrun close defenders.

GK Daniel Grabowski, Schwaben Athletic Nationals U17- Vocal leader on his team and can maintain the cool amongst his teammates (he played in a game that saw nine cards be handed out). He also seems to anticipate the direction of a shot against him two seconds before it actually happens. He defended a penalty kick beautifully in his Sunday match.

F Jordan Moore, Sporting Indiana FC SIFC98 U17- Displays finesse movements while possessing the ball and is a pesky attacker when working for play-in balls.

MF Carson Tye, Tennessee United TUSC ‘02 U14- Excellent speed for a small center. He also has a knack for poking out balls in between opponents’ feet. He can drop back and play some defense when needed to, and plays well with teammate Coy Skinner on the field.

F Morgan Troutman, Sporting Indiana FC SIFC98 U17- Quick attacker that also displays a bit of physicality in her game. She needs to work on stealing balls from opponents without hard fouling, however (warned twice about pushing opponents in her Sunday game).
