NEFC proves its worth at U13

NEFC Elite solidified the No. 3 spot with a good showing in March and April through regular season and tournament play.  The suburban Boston squad has a 3-0 record to start the New England NPL spring season, and followed that with a stellar performance at the PDA Spring Kickoff Tournament last weekend. Though No. 2 PDA Pre-ECNL was busy with Northeast NPL league play last weekend, the field at its home tournament was loaded nonetheless, and NEFC took home the trophy over No. 6 East Meadow, No. 8 FC Virginia, and No. 18 Tophat.

Slammers near No. 1 at U14

Slammers ECNL impressed at the recent San Diego Showcase, climbing two spots to No. 3 after showing off its wealth of talent on a national stage. U.S. U14 Girls National Team member Jenna Nighswonger led her team to a 3-0 record on the weekend and a 15-1-1 overall record in ECNL play, good enough for a current second place in the southwest conference, just behind No. 1 San Diego Surf. Slammers ranks first in goals scored in the ECNL U14 age group this season with 60, but its loss to Surf back in October keeps the Orange County squad from the top spot in the nation.

Bethesda SC still leads the Ohio Valley division at the season’s midway point for this group, and climbs five spots to No. 15 after claiming the PDA Spring Kickoff Tournament crown last weekend over No. 18 Tophat 19 Gold.

U15: Can Anyone Beat the Blues?

The answer to that question is still a resounding “No”. With 18 shutouts in 20 matches, So Cal Blues remains the team to beat in this age group. No. 11 Slammers is the only squad to have success of any kind against them all season, and by success we mean to even get a single goal against the impenetrable Lauren Brzykcy, ranked No. 58 in the IMG Academy 150 Class of 2017, and Slammers have done it twice. Only conference matchups remain on the docket for the Blues, and with both matches against Slammers already in the books, it looks like the Blues are poised to make a deep run into the post-season.

In northeast conference action, Match Fit Academy climbs nine spots to No. 12 after a 4-0 run in conference play hands them the top spot in the metro division standings. Match Fit holds a 10-1 overall record, but is only at the season’s half-way point, so only time will tell if they can sustain that pace.

May 7: U16, U17, U18 Boys update

Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
