Insider info on 2013 recruit destinations
May 7, 2011
We’re giving you more inside information on recruits across the country. Here’s the status on a few of our young stars who have yet to make their college commitment.

Kylie Schwarz, Minnesota Thunder
Interested in: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Louisville, San Diego State
Schwarz will have plenty of time and offers as she is a 2013 graduate – one of the best around, at that. Schwarz is No. 39 ranked in our 2013 Top 100 class. She’s a defender but is strong and agile with enough versatility to play anywhere on the field.

And play the field she will. Schwarz has visited all of the aforementioned programs and would ideally like to make a verbal commitment by the middle of her junior season. After she’s done all of her research, of course.

“I am hoping to visit several more campuses,” Schwarz said. “The coaches have all been very positive and helpful and the campuses are all very nice. I am looking at large schools with successful soccer programs and good academics.”

That will include more schools on both the West and East coasts as Schwarz said she is planning to make more visits there.

Happy hunting, Kylie.

Cassie Collins, San Diego Surf
Interested in: Michigan, Notre Dame, UCLA, Penn State, UCSB(w), Oregon State
Collins is a skilled 2012 graduate who excels in the midfield. Her passing shows her great understanding of the game and tactical awareness, and she’s a product of a great club in the Surf.

After visits to Michigan, Notre Dame and UCLA thus far, our sources tell us that Collins may be leaning toward Michigan.

“I had the best visit there,” Collins said. “I went when they opened their new stadium and that was exciting to see the atmosphere.  I also liked (head coach) Greg Ryan and all of the girls there. The College town was fun too.

“I think the soccer program is getting better and it wouldn’t be bad to be a part of making that happen.”

Sounds like a ringing endorsement to us.

Jenna Roering, Minnesota Thunder
Interested in: Minnesota, Stanford, Georgetown, Maryland, Notre Dame
Roering is another youngin’ and will not graduate until 2013 so understandably she is keeping all of her options open.

“Jenna is 16 and feels it is really challenging to know exactly what she wants at this point,” relayed her mother Becky. “She wants to play soccer at the highest level in college, but realizes that the academics are important.”

Jenna has taken a visit to Stanford, however, which she really enjoyed while bonding with many of the girls on the team.

Zach Zurita, South Central SC (CT)
Interested in: Monmouth, Rutgers
Zurita is one of the top strikers in the country for his 2012 class and comes in at No. 57 on our Top 100. He’s a very quick forward who has good dribbling skills and an excellent shot. Clever and technically advanced, his creativity with the ball can often leave defenders confused.

Zurita, on the other hand, has clarity. His search for the right program has boiled down to two remaining East Coast schools: Monmouth, and Rutgers. Let the race begin.
