It’s a new season in the soccer world and a time for a fresh look at some of the previously featured players from the Pro Prospects series.

Fresh Start

Former New York Red Bulls academy forward Ismar Tandir joined Sacramento Republic FC last month. Tandir spent the previous season in France with FC Sochaux after the club scouted him as a future center forward for the first team. Tandir did well with the club's reserve side, but financial difficulties due to relegation led to his departure from Sochaux.

Sacramento Republic head coach Preki kept tabs on Tandir and signed him to a deal in August. The highly-motivated USL-Pro side is building a roster to contend for supremacy in the USL-Pro as well as keep the ambitious bid to bring MLS to Sacramento alive. Tandir has yet to appear in a match.

Along with his new club, Tandir's brother tells TopDrawerSoccer that Tab Ramos has also been in contact with him about potentially calling Tandir into a camp. Tandir has appeared for Serbia at the U19 and U21 levels, but he is not tied to the country as none of the games came in an official competition. Tandir, born in 1995, is eligible for this U20 cycle.

Luca! Luca! Luca!

While Emerson Hyndman is stealing all of the headlines from Fulham thanks to his arrival with the first team, academy player Luca De La Torre is making plenty of strides in Hyndman’s wake. The U.S. U17 Men’s National Team midfielder started for Fulham’s U18 side in a 3-1 win against Reading on Saturday. Last week, De La Torre made the bench for Fulham’s reserve team in a 2-1 win over Everton.

The former San Diego Surf prospect is a two-way midfielder with good skill and vision. His last appearance with the U.S. came in August during an international tournament in Mexico City.

Clear for Takeoff

After a lengthy period of waiting for paperwork to finalize, U.S. U17 MNT defender Daniel Barbir is finally eligible to play in league games for West Bromwich Albion. Barbir had a strong preseason with the club but was forced to miss out on some of the academy’s early games as he waited for his international clearance from FIFA.

Barbir announced on Twitter on Monday that the club had received the green light and he would be available for West Brom U18’s next fixture against Tottenham on Sept. 13. West Brom U18 is 2-1 to start the season while Spurs U18 is 1-0-2 so far on the campaign.

Barbir, like De La Torre, has been a key figure for the U.S. U17 MNT in the past and likely to feature with the group moving toward World Cup qualifying in March.

Just a Test

Former New York Red Bulls academy forward and trainee at Norwich City Dantae Greer was called into the Jamaica U17 Men’s National Team for a brief training camp during the last weekend of August. Greer scored a goal and set up another goal in a victory over a local club during the camp.

The striker is apparently a highly-regarded prospect for the Reggae Boyz as coach Andrew Edwards singled out Greer as someone to watch in comments to Jamaica Observer.

Red-Hot Rodriguez

U.S. youth national team midfielder Stevie Rodriguez is off to a hot start to the new season. Rodriguez is currently on loan from Club Tijuana to Dorados de Sinaloa. The playing time with the Mexican second-flight squad is paying off so far as Rodriguez scored a goal in three of the last four games.

Rodriguez last appeared with the U.S. in April when he was called into the U21 Men’s National Team, which is the age group for the Olympic squad for 2016.
