This week’s Pro Prospects takes a look at some of the U.S. Youth National Team talent and former Development Academy players playing in Mexico this season. There are a number of players with U.S. ties off to a great start in the Liga MX youth divisions in 2016.

Beyond the breakouts from Mexico, there were a pair of former U.S. U17 Men’s National Team players who scored in Europe over the weekend. Take a look below at an update on how those players are performing this season.

Felix Flexing

Former Colorado Rapids Academy midfielder Jose Jose Felix Elias made his debut for the Santos Laguna U20 side over the weekend in a 2-0 win over Puebla FC. The 20-year-old came off the bench in the second half to help close out the win.

Jose Jose Felix Elias made 22 appearances with the Colorado Rapids U18 side in the Development Academy last season. His best season for the Rapids came in 2014 when he scored three goals in 22 appearances.

The midfielder has U.S. and Mexico citizenship. His Santos Laguna profile lists his place of birth as Zacatecas, Mexico.

Gonzo for Jona

U.S. Youth National Team midfielder Jonathan Gonzalez is carving out a spot on the Monterrey U20 side. Gonzalez, born in 1999, was the youngest player to start in Monterrey’s 1-0 win over Cruz Azul over the weekend. Gonzalez has made five appearances in the seven games Monterrey has played this season. Rayados sit in 11th place in the table.

Fellow U.S. youth national team midfielder Jose Alfaro Jr. also had a strong weekend in Liga MX. Alfaro started for Morelia Moarcas U17 in a 1-2 loss to Queretaro. Alfaro has started six games this season and his two goals for the team.

Diego Leads the Way

Club Leon sits at the top of the table in the Clasura U20 for the 2015-2016 season. Former FC Dallas Academy player Diego de la Tejera has been one of the standouts for Leon this season. De la Tejera, born in 1995, has played in seven of the eight games this season. He has one goal to his name. Last weekend, he started for Leon U20 alongside U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Miguel Ibarra in a 3-2 win over Chiapas.

U.S. U18 MNT midfielder Leonardo Marquez came off the bench for Leon’s U17 team in a 2-1 win over Chiapas. Marquez has made four appearances this season for Leon’s U17 side.

It’s A O’Kai

U.S. Youth National Team forward Kai Koreniuk scored two goals in Vitesse U19’s win over Ajax in the Dutch Youth Cup over the weekend. With Vitesse trailing 0-2, Koreniuk drew a penalty kick in the 70th minute after he was hacked down in the 18-yard box. He converted the shot from the spot. He followed that up with the equalizer in the 82nd. Koreniuk converted his shot from the mark in the penalty kick shootout.

De La Scoring

U.S. midfielder Luca de la Torre scored for Fulham U18 in a 2-2 draw against West Ham on Saturday. De la Torre scored the opener before West Ham came back and grabbed the lead. A dramatic finish left the two teams sharing the points on the day. De la Torre played all 90 minutes in the game.

Auf Wiedersehen?

U.S. Youth National Team eligible winger Jalen Hawkins is taking part in the Germany U15 National Team camp this week. Hawkins, a member of Bayern Munich’s Academy, has not been called into a U.S. Youth National Team camp yet.
