BRADENTON - The final day of the Super Y League Finals at the IMG Academy, some of the country's top young talents competed in the championship finals and brought their best game to the forefront. Energy was at its highest levels with titles on the line, as players gave everything they had. Here are some of the key matchups from the day.

Waza FC U12 (MI) 2-0 Barcelona USA Atlanta Fire U12 (GA)

Returning from winning a championship last year, Waza came into Tuesday morning's U12 championship match seeking to clinch back-to-back titles against the Atlanta Fire. Mission accomplished, as Waza limited Atlanta's opportunities in a shutout victory.

Waza completely controlled time of possession and shots on goal, as Atlanta wasn't able to get a shot off throughout the first half. The Michigan-based team got on the board in the 15th minute, with Maria Paveguo getting on the board and teammate Tara Simon had the assist.

Under 10 minutes later, Simon got on the board this time and forward Faith Webber had the assist. A few other opportunities opened up in the opening half, but Waza couldn't convert. The second half featured all of Atlanta's four shots on goal and Waza goalkeeper Maddia Dolenga making four saves on each shot.

"I think our legs got a little tired after five days of playing," Waza coach Rich Ludwig said about the second half. "So with that some gaps developed there. I'm really proud of these girls and the way they came out and played today."

Chicago Inferno U13 (IL) 1-0 West Pines UTD U16 (FL)

All tournament long, one thing West Pines UTD didn't allow to happen during games was a defensive breakdown. No goals allowed. They went into their U13 championship match against the Chicago Inferno expecting to pull off one last shutout.

They were not able to complete the feat, as West Pines yielded a goal and lost 1-0 in a tight contest.

Constant battles in the midfield was the theme for most of the match, with both clubs playing very stiff defensively. Inferno coach Dino Delevski's original plan was to extend the game for as long as possible and maybe go into overtime, penalty kicks. No need.

The go-ahead goal was scored in the second half by forward Alek Zddavkovic and assisted by fellow teammate Alex Sanchez. From there, Chicago was able to play back defensively and worry about securing the victory.

"It was really tough," Zddavkovic said. "I really didn't think I was going to score today."

Long Island Rough Riders U13 (NY) 4-0 Saba NYC U13 (NY)

No doubt.

That was the feeling left after the U13 girls championship between two teams from New York in Saba NYC and the Long Island Rough RidersTuesday morning. The Rough Riders exploded in the second half with three goals and cruised to a seemingly easy 4-0 victory.

For all of the goals Long Island scored during the match, the first half didn't give any indication towards any offensive burst, as they scored once early on a goal from Brianna Jablonowski. Outside of that, midfield play dominated the contest.

The second half, however, proved to be a totally different story. Opportunities were seized, as Sam Dumont scored the first goal of the halve. Later on, Julia Aronov would knock in two more goals to give Long Island the much needed 4-0 cushion to walk away with the comfortable victory.

"I think we had scoring opportunities all throughout the first half," Long Island coach Meghan Frey said. "I think in the second half, we were just able to finish them."

Met Oval U18 (NY) 2-0 Iron Bound U18 (NJ)

Tensions ran high from the get go in the U18 boys championship game.

With both teams from neighboring states and vaguely familiar with one another, rough play ensued but played in favor of one team: Met Oval.

The boys from New York City continued their winning ways and upended New Jersey-based Iron Bound in a 2-0 contest Tuesday afternoon.

Iron Bound coach Manny Antunes returned with his fiery coaching style, but his club couldn't match their manager's energy level. His squad had several scoring opportunities throughout, but was never able to find the back of the net.

Met Oval found trouble at first, but took advantage of two defensive breakdowns and received scores from Dayo Aresoun and Alexis Santa, assisted by teammate Kevin Rodriguez. Met had to play with coach Ivo Mohorovich suspended because of being ejected the previous day in the semifinals. Assistant coach Jim Vogt coached in his place.
