Another week gone in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and only three divisions were in action this weekend. Some teams played their first game, while others got the losing monkey off their backs.

Texas Division

Houston Dynamo U16 ended their losing streak when it got its first win of October, by defeating Classics Elite U16, 4-0. It was the first time that Houston notched a goal this month after being shutout, 2-0 and 3-0, earlier in the month.

“It was a great relief because the team has been playing very well, but we just haven’t been finishing off our chances,” Houston Dynamo U16 Head Coach Mario Sanchez said. “The team has great possession abilities and knows how to play the open field well. So this week we had been focusing on taking advantage of our opportunities and this weekend we were able to finish off our chances.”

The team still remains under .500, but maybe this dominating victory might change the tide.

“We have to continue to work hard on the technical side and to display great soccer,” Sanchez said. “We have a complete and competitive team. All the guys have the capacity to demonstrate why they belong to the Dynamo.”

Branco Ramirez, Bradley Bourgeois, and Jorge Alarcon led the Dynamo this weekend.

Bottom dwellers Classics Elite U16 had a rough weekend, aside from the aforementioned defeat, they received a secondary one the following day, going down to Solar Chelsea SC U16 with the same 4-0 score. Classics Elite has yet to end victorious this season.

On the U18 Boys side, Dallas Texans U18 continued their winning ways, posting a 1-0 victory over Lonestar SC Academy U18. This marks three matches that the boys in red get three points, leading the division with 13 points.

Brandon Lopez has been a machine for Texans already notching four goals. Eduardo Aranda, Darin Kruzich, Chase Minter, Aaron Simmons, and Leonard Smith have also found the back of the net.

Classics Elite U18 split its weekend games. Saturday’s 2-1 lose to the Houston Dynamo U18 was followed by a 1-0 win over Solar Chelsea SC U18.

Northwest/SoCal Division

The West Conference played intra-divisional games this past weekend. San Jose Earthquakes U16 traveled the furthest to San Diego but left empty handed, as Nomads SC U16 and San Diego Surf U16 gave Earthquakes a 1-0 and 3-2 loss, respectively.

Hector Hernandez, Rui Adachi, and Ryan Kretz have been key for Surf’s success. Meanwhile it’s been Manuel Carrillo, Adrian Del Camp, Sergio Enriquez, and Said Solano for Nomads’ fortune.

Cal Odyssey U18 and San Jose Earthquakes U18 were the lucky ones of the bunch, showing up both homes teams and taking four points in the process. Cal Odyssey came from behind against San Diego Surf U18, 1-1, and defeated Nomands SC U18, 3-2.

Gregory Antognoli and Georgio Fasoulis scored in Surf and Cal Odyssey’s 1-1 draw.

San Jose had the exact same results, tying Surf, 1-1, and defeating Nomads SC, 2-1.

Southeast Division

Definitely the busiest division this weekend, the Southeast had six teams playing.

Concorde Fire U16 and IMG Soccer Academy U16 made the most of what they could, taking victories on both its bouts. Concorde Fire continues to lead the Southeast Division with victories over Kendall SC U16, 3-0, and Weston FC U16, 2-1.

Concorde’s domination is in due part to the offensive output of Adrian Alabi (6 goals), Preston Gayton (4), Cameron Moseley (4), Reed Norton (4), and Andy Anglade (3).

IMG notched its first two victories in divisional play with a 3-0 shutout win over Atlanta Fire United U16, and a 2-1 victory against South Carolina United FC U16. With the two wins, IMG shares the second place slot behind Concorde.

IMG has relied heavily on Max Brashear, who has notched seven goals already this season. Dean Abdehou, Austin Myara, and Gabriel Nunez have also scored.

Clearwater Chargers U18 also had a dominating weekend in its first two games of the division, drilling six goals all together. It shut out South Carolina United FC, 3-0, and beating Atlanta Fire United, 3-1.

Wesley Charpie, Tevin Gage, and Jagger Martinez are a large part of Clearwater’s ascension in the Southeast Division.

First place Concorde Fire U18 managed to keep its lead only with a 1-0 victory over Kendall SC, because the following day they received a spanking at the hands of Weston FC, 5-0.
