Finals Week is now a quarter of the way finished, with eight of the 32 scheduled games completed.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS AND DALLAS TEXANS KICK OFF FINALS WEEK ACTION: A Dallas Texans goal five minutes from the end of regulation neutralized a one-goal lead as they drew 1-1 with Finals Week newcomers Seattle Sounders FC in the opening match of the U-15/16 Division at Development Academy Finals week. Jesse Klug opened the scoring for Seattle in the sixth minute and the advantage lasted nearly the entire match, but Vernon Bailey had the answer in the 75th minute on a hot afternoon on the turf.

DIVISION RIVALS PLAY TO DRAW: SoCal Division rivals Real So Cal U-15/16 and the LA Galaxy battled to a 1-1 draw at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, Wis., a goal each from LA Galaxy forward Ludwing Vargas and Real So Cal defender Brandon Vincent earning the teams a share of the spoils from their first match at 2011 Development Academy Finals Week. The Galaxy had defeated Real So Cal by matching 3-2 scorelines in their previous two meetings this year.

NORTH CAROLINA FUSION AND REAL SALT LAKE AZ DRAW IN FIRST GAME: A late goal from North Carolina Fusion’s Mason Billings was enough to earn a draw against Real Salt Lake AZ as the two teams began play at Development Academy Finals Week. Real Salt Lake AZ will next face PA Classics, who currently hold the top place in Group 2, on Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m. CT and North Carolina Fusion will play CASL Chelsea FC Academy on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT. Both games will be played at Uihlein Soccer Park.

PA CLASSICS TOPS GROUP 2 AFTER FIRST DAY:
PA Classics moved into the top place of Group 2 with a narrow 1-0 victory against CASL Chelsea FC Academy at Development Academy Finals Week. Zachary Heistek scored a 10th minute goal and the stingy PA Classics defense was able to hold on, limiting CASL to just six shots on the night. The only team to emerge victorious in any of the four U-15/16 games Sunday afternoon, PA Classics is in the driver’s seat as the teams compete for a place in the championship match that takes place Saturday, July 17. Classics will play Real Salt Lake AZ on Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m. CT. CASL will look to make up ground when they take on North Carolina Fusion on Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT at Uihlein Soccer Park.
