The past season was a monumental one for the Big East. The college conference provided a number of players to the professional game following the 2015 season. The success of developing next level talent comes with a dark cloud overhead.
The Big East is lacking in big names after Josh Yaro and Fabian Herbers took the early exit to MLS in the offseason. Big East coaches are hoping that the next gem of the conference is in this new crop of recruits.
Creighton, which usually does a good job of balancing domestic and foreign recruits, has only three domestic recruits listed for the 2016 class as of Tuesday. The Jays will likely add to that class with a few foreign recruits.
Georgetown nailed down a bigger class with six players on board with verbal commitments. The Hoyas nabbed a talented defender with familial ties to the program as well as a high school soccer standout.
Marquette and Villanova both pulled in surprisingly strong classes. Marquette nabbed a top local talent who has done exceptionally well with Chicago Magic PSG and been on the cusp of the youth national teams. Villanova pulled in a pair of players with U.S. U17 Men’s National Team experience.
