BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--CSU Bakersfield and UC Davis Played to 0-0 tie in the 2012 season opener for the Roadrunners.

CSUB created more opportunities on offense in the first half and held a 6-3 advantage in shots. The Roadrunners continued to press but CSUB's style of play was altered in the 65th minute when Jesus Sanchez (Sr., Chula Vista, Calif., Castle Park HS) was ejected from the match as he was issued his second yellow card of the match for a hard tackle.

Despite one additional player on the field the Aggies couldn't take advantage as Roadrunner goalie Eric Shannon (Sr., Valencia, Calif., Valencia HS) would lead the CSUB defense as Shannon recorded his 23rd career shutout. The Roadrunners outshot the Aggies 13-11.

"We want to win every game and we think we are going to be a dominant team in every match," said CSUB head coach Simon Tobin. "We were dominant tonight as UC Davis played it back and took their time. But when you go a man down, I am satisfied with that result. When we had 11, I thought it would be a matter of time before we scored. But with a man down, it was important that we didn't lose. Losses like that can comeback to haunt you especially when you are looking for an NCAA bid."

CSUB is at the University of Portland Friday for the first match of the Nike Portland Invitational. Kick is set for 7 p.m.
