BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Lucas Dall'Orso (So., Orange County, Calif., JSerra Catholic HS) came off the bench to score two goals and record two assists to lead CSU Bakersfield past UNLV 5-1 in the MPSF opener for both schools Saturday night at CSUB's Main Soccer Field.

The Rebels took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Nick Marshall putback Julian Portugal's penalty kick which was deflected by CSUB goalie Eric Shannon (Sr., Valencia, Calif., Valencia HS). Jesus Sanchez (Sr., Chula Vista, Calif., Castle Park HS) tied the match with a header off a Dall'Orso pass in the 34th minute.

Dall'Orso struck 2:18 into the second half when his blast from just inside the 18 connected with the lower righthand portion of the UNLV net.  Dall'Orso scored again in the 60th minute with a bender from 10 yards out. Gyasi Zardes (R-Jr., Hawthorne, Calif., Leuzinger HS) scored the final two goals of the night in 73rd and 79th minutes respectively.

Zardes, Dall'Orso, and Christian Duarte (Fr., Houston, Texas, Clear Springs HS) all recorded two assists. The five goals ties the CSUB Division I record for most goals in a game (5 vs. UC Riverside, 8/27/11). The Roadrunners reset the school mark for most assists in a game with eight. The old record was seven, set against Riverside last season.

"I saw this as one of our toughest games and I thought we were professional (in our approach)," said CSUB head coach Simon Tobin. "Our maturity has developed and that's what we were missing at times last year. Our second half was very satisfying tonight."

CSUB, which is 4-0-3 in its last seven matches, hosts San Jose State Friday night at 7 p.m.
