FDU Plays to a 1-1 Draw at St. Francis NY

The Fairleigh Dickinson men’s soccer team played to a disappointing 1-1 draw Friday night against St. Francis NY in Northeast Conference action at the Aviator Complex in Brooklyn, NY.

Leading almost the entire match, the Knights saw the home team tie the match in the 90th minute of play as Riccardo Milano tied the match with one minute remaining. 

With the tie, the Knights are now 8-3-3 (4-1-2 NEC) on the season and drop into second place into in the NEC standings with 14 points, one behind leader Central Connecticut State.  The Terriers’ overall record is now 8-3-2 (3-1-1 NEC).

Junior #Jack McVey# scored an unassisted goal as there was a scramble in the box to put FDU ahead 1-0 five seconds into the 11th minute of the contest.  The goal was McVey’s team-leading fifth goal of the season.

In the first half, the Terriers outshot the Knights, 6-2.

In the second half, the Knights were able to hold of SFNY until the final minute as the Terriers knotted the game at one.

The home team fired 13 shots in the second half to the Knights two attempts.

In the two overtime periods, SFNY outshot FDU, 8-1, and held a 27-6 advantage in the match.

Sophomore #Jacob Lissek# once again tied a career-high with nine saves including six in the second half and two more in the overtime periods.

Tyler Clarhaut made one save for the Terriers.

The Knights will have a week off before they return to Northeast Conference play next Friday, Oct. 28, at home against Bryant.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at University Stadium in Teaneck, NJ.
