Hornets Keep Streak Going

Box Score The Alabama State soccer team defeated Grambling State Tigers 3-0 Friday afternoon at the Lady Tigers Soccer Field.
The Lady Hornets pushes their win streak to sevengames . They have been on this win streak since the 7-1 win over USC-Beaufort on September 22. During this win streak they have defeated two non-conference teams and have clinched the Eastern Division Championship
"It's good to continue on our win streak" Head Coach Jodie Smith. "We came out and did some nice things but wasn't patient enough on the offensive end. Overall I'm proud of our success and will continue to work."
The Lady Hornets came out on the offensive scoring in the 10th minute with a goal from Ariela Lewis assisted by Aaliyah Lewis, then again in the 47th minute of an assist fromMariel Smith. Aaliyah Lewis scored the final goal of the match in the 66th minute with an assist from Ally Murphy.
Alabama State (10-6/3-0) outshot the Lady Tigers 10-7. Junior goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had seven saves in the match.
The Lady Hornets will travel to face Arkansas Pine-Bluff Sunday, October 20 at Pumphery Stadium. The match is slated 1 p.m.
"We are looking forward toplaying Pine-Bluff" said Smith. "We just have to keep our composure and keep focus on the goal in front of us."
