Indiana Drops 2-0 Decision at Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Badgers (10-5-3, 5-2-3 Big Ten) handed the Indiana Hoosiers a 2-0 loss in Big Ten women’s soccer on Sunday afternoon in Madison, and eliminating the Hoosiers (6-11-1, 2-8 Big Ten) from contention for the Big Ten Tournament. Cara Walls scored both goals for the Badgers.
The Hoosiers were able to get off a pair of shots in the first 20 minutes to stay with the Badgers but in the 21st minute, Walls stole a pass from IU goalkeeper Lindsay Campbell and put home her eighth goal of the season.
In the 58th minute, Orianica Velasquez took a penalty kick awarded to the Hoosiers but UW’s keeper Michele Dalton was up to the task and made the save to swing the momentum back into the Badgers favor.
Then in the 70th minute, Walls put a shot on goal that Campbell was able to deflect but it went off the post and into the goal to put Wisconsin ahead 2-0.
Wisconsin held a 20-8 advantage in shots for the game and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
Campbell finished with four saves in goal for IU while Dalton also made four in goal for the Badgers.
Indiana will close the regular season out next Sunday at Ohio State starting at 1:00 p.m. The game is scheduled to be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
