Jackets certain to be tested this fall

July 10, 2013

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Four opponents who appeared in their respective Top 25 polls including NCAA Division I Xavier highlight the 2013 Cedarville University men's soccer schedule.

The Yellow Jackets, who set a school-record for victories during their 17-4-1 campaign last fall, will play 8 of their 18 matches on the home turf. Eight contests will be within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference and every opponent on the docket is Division II or higher.

"The schedule we have put together will test us week in and week out and provide us with a great chance at an NCAA tournament berth if we compete to our ability," declared Head Coach Todd Beall, who enters his fourth season at CU with a 44-19-4 mark.

"On paper this should be the most talented team we have had since I have been here at Cedarville. It won't be easy playing four teams that were in the NCAA Top 25 poll at some point in 2012 - three of them being on the road."

The Yellow Jackets open with three matches at home in a span of five days. Southern Indiana is in town on Sept. 5 followed by Malone on the 7th and Walsh on the 10th. Each one kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

Cedarville embarks on a six-match road trip with a date at Xavier on Sept. 17. The G-MAC slate opens with a two-game swing at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Sept. 19 and at Kentucky Wesleyan two days later.

Shippensburg (Pa.) is the Homecoming opponent on Oct. 5. The other Top 25 assignments are at Slippery Rock (Pa.) on Sept. 25; home vs. G-MAC foe Davis & Elkins (W.Va.) on Oct. 12; and at Gannon (Pa.) on Oct. 29.
