Last Week:
JMU dropped home games to two of the higher-ranked CAA teams.  The Dukes lost 2-0 to Northeastern on Sept. 27 and lost 3-1 to Hofstra on Sept. 30.

Scouting George Mason:  The Patriots have a 5-7-1 overall record and a 1-2-1 CAA record.  In CAA play George Mason has beaten Old Dominion (5-0) and tied Drexel (1-1) and has dropped games to Delaware (2-1, OT) and William and Mary (1-0).
     The Patriots were picked to finish sixth in the 11-team CAA, as voted by the league's coaches.

The Series with George MasonThe Dukes lead the all-time series 14-8-4, but the Patriots beat JMU 1-0 last season in Fairfax.
     Of the last 12 meetings, seven have been decided by a single goal and three have ended in ties.

Scouting Towson:  The Tigers have a 1-10-0 overall record and are 1-3-0 in league play.  Towson has a CAA win over Old Dominion (3-0) and league losses to Delaware (1-0), Drexel (4-0) and William and Mary (5-0).
     Towson sixth-year head coach Greg Paynter was an assistant with JMU for eight years (1999-2006 seasons) before joining the Tigers in 2007.
      Towson was picked by the CAA coaches to finish 11th in the 11-team league.

The Series with TowsonJMU has never lost to Towson and leads the all-time series 10-0.  However, the last three meetings were decided by a single goal, and two of those games went into overtime.

Dukes End Shutout Stretch:  In the 3-1 loss to Hofstra on Sept. 30, JMU lost its third straight game.  However, the Dukes’ goal vs. Hofstra ended a stretch of two scoreless games for the team.

CAA Tournament Not Out of Reach:  The Dukes have a 1-3-0 CAA record, but it’s still early in league play.  JMU has lost nine total games this fall for the first time since the 2006 season.  However, that 2006 JMU team finished with a 11-9-2 record and was runner-up in the CAA Tournament.

Four Opponents Projected for NCAA Field:  Four JMU opponents are projected to be among the 64 teams in the 2012 NCAA Tournament field, according to the website TopDrawerSoccer.com.  The weekly rankings are a running attempt to project the postseason NCAA Tournament qualifiers, including every automatic conference berth.
