October 26, 2013

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Daniel Laguna Kennedy scored twice for Manhattan which defeated Siena Soccer 3-1 at Siena Turf Field. Senior Lewis Davenport scored his first goal of the season for the Saints.

The loss snapped Siena’s (6-7-1, 2-3-1) nine-match unbeaten streak (7-0-2) against Manhattan (3-9-1, 3-2-1). The win is Manhattan’s first in the series since Halloween 2003 and first in Loudonville in 15 years.

Laguna Kennedy and Alex Shackley bookended the first half with goals for the Jaspers which took a commanding 2-0 lead at the break. Laguna Kennedy added his second score in the 58th minute to put the match out of reach.

Meanwhile Davenport, who had not played for the Saints prior to this season since his freshman year, broke up the shutout in the 85th minute. Davenport becomes the 12th different Saint to score a goal this season.

Alex Coates McDowall made four saves for Manhattan while Adam Myers stopped three shots for Siena which also saw its impressive eight-match MAAC home unbeaten streak come to an end.

The Saints return to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Marist.
