October 26, 2011

Philadelphia, Pa. – Senior forward Taylor Suskie opened up the scoring in the 20th minute to give Millersville an early 1-0 lead. But Holy Family scored late in the first half and then the eventual game-winner in the second overtime to escape with a 2-1 win on Wednesday at Tiger Field.

Millersville (5-11-1) opened the scoring when senior Niki Roberts sent in a corner to the box that found Suskie in the 20th minute. Suskie collected the ball and put it past Tigers' goalkeeper for her fifth goal of the season to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.

Holy Family (9-7) found an equalizer with seconds remaining in the first half. The Tigers' Megan Tole passed the ball to teammate Dawn Curry to find the back of the goal to even the score at 1-1 with 40 seconds left in the side.

The Marauders and the Tigers battled through a scoreless second half to send the game into overtime. Both goalkeepers recorded three saves in regulation to keep the game at 1-1.

There was only one shot in the first overtime that was saved by Millersville's keeper Laura Reed. The game moved into a second overtime after playing 100 minutes still tied at one goal apiece.

Less than two minutes into the second overtime, Curry found her second goal of the game for the game-winner. Freshman Kimber Kisselback centered the ball into the box that found Curry. Curry headed the ball into the net to complete the comeback for Holy Family with a 2-1 win.

Millersville finishes its season on Saturday, Oct. 29 when it travels to West Chester. The Marauders and the Golden Rams kick off at 12 p.m.
