AMHERST, Mass. - Despite outshooting UMass, the Dartmouth men's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net, dropping a 2-0 match at UMass on Saturday (Sept. 22) afternoon.

Dartmouth (3-4-0) had a hard time finding the net holding a 18-9 shots advantage and posting six shots on goal to just four from UMass.  Junior Colin Skelly (Wrightstown, Pa.) generated most of Dartmouth's offense with a team-best three shots on goal while Tommy Johnson (Klein, Texas) added two shots on goal.

The loss halted leading scorer Alex Adelabu's (Houston, Texas) four-game scoring streak as he was held without a shot in the contest. Goalkeeper Noah Cohen (Johannesburg, South Africa) made two saves in 90 minutes of action.

Trailing 1-0 to open the second frame, Dartmouth immediately tried to even the score taking the first three shots of the half, forcing UMass goalkeeper Brian Frame to make three saves within the first 10 minutes of the half.

Despite the Big Green's offensive surge in the second frame, UMass (3-3-2)  extended its lead to 2-0 at the 61:34 mark of the game on a header from a throw in.

Andoni Georgiou (London, England) showcased his offensive prowess with two quick shots, although both were wide of the goal. Georgiou posted three shots on the afternoon.

Freshman Elijah Soko (Hare, Zimbabwe) saw is first career action in the loss, playing 30 minutes.

In the their first action in a little under a week, the Big Green came out firing, posting six first-half shots but couldn't seem to get anything on net.

The first real scoring opportunity of the match came from the Minutemen.  Connor Devivo teed up a shot that skimmed the crossbar and rebounded into the box where teammate Dominic Skrajewski took a shot that was blocked by the Big Green defense.

Dartmouth had two chances in the closing minutes of the half on corner kicks and a header from Patrick Murray (Lakewood, Ohio) that went wide of the net.

Despite the chances, UMass stole the momentum heading into the break by breaking the 0-0 deadlock with just 28 seconds remaining in the half on a header from Zach Miller.

The Big Green begins its Ivy League title defense on Saturday (Sept. 29) when they travel to Princeton, N.J, to take on the Princeton Tigers. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
