Philadelphia (September 8, 2013) – The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision to a high-scoring Penn team on Sunday afternoon on the road. Mount goalkeepers Vicky Cocozza and Rachel Bourne combined to make seven saves on the day.

The Quakers (2-0), who also scored four goals in a win over Saint Peter's on Friday to open the season, tallied three goals in the first half and one in the second half to down the Mountaineers (1-5). Brianna Rano and Megan York both scored and had an assist on the day for Penn, which held a 22-3 advantage on shots.

For the Mountaineers, Ragan Cote, Meghan Wilson and Jackie Corley all fired shots in the second half as the Mount attempted to get back into the game.

Penn got on the board in the 12th minute when Lindsey Sawczuk's through ball led to Rano pushing a shot past Cocozza for a 1-0 lead.

The Mount kept the Quakers at bay until goals in the 35th and 36th minutes put the Mount in a 3-0 deficit. Elissa Berdini scored first on a left-footed attempt before York's header to the right side of the goal gave Penn a three-goal advantage. Three shot attempts by Penn in the last 10 minutes of the half were unsuccessful to keep the score at 3-0 heading into halftime.

Penn's lead grew to 4-0 when Rano's free kick was headed in by Tahirih Nesmith in the 67th minute to seal the win.

Ana Chevtchenko fired four shots to lead Penn's offense while Katherine Myhre and Kalijah Terilli combined for a shutout in goal.

After three consecutive road games, the Mount returns to Waldron Family Stadium for a three-game homestand. The Mount will face Iona on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. in Emmitsburg, Md.
