Mountain Hawks travel to Boston Saturday

September 21, 2018

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off a tough 1-0 defeat to Army West Point last Saturday, the Lehigh women's soccer team will look to snap a mini two-game losing skid when it travels to Boston University this weekend. Opening kickoff on Saturday is set for 4 p.m. The Mountain Hawks stand 3-5-0 on the season, 0-1-1 in Patriot League play, eying the program's first-ever win against the Terriers.

Despite never beating Boston University, Lehigh has earned two ties in its last four meetings with the Terriers, including last season. Through the first seven games of this year, the Mountain Hawks had alternated wins and losses until their first two-game losing skid of the season, falling at Towson (2-1 in overtime) and home vs. Army (1-0) last week. The Black Knights converted a free kick for the game's only goal in the 50th minute and despite Lehigh outshooting Army 17-8 for the game, the Black Knights wrapped up their fourth straight shutout.

Through eight games, junior Kayla Arestivo leads the Mountain Hawks with two goals and five points. Arestivo has a game-winning goal (at Monmouth), as does sophomore Chloe Tremblay (vs. Fairleigh Dickinson) and freshman Rebecca Van Siclen (vs. Temple). Sophomore Miranda Royds has started all eight games in goal, recording a 0.92 goals against average and 0.833 save percentage. Royds recorded a career-high 11 saves at Towson last Wednesday.

Boston University comes in at just 1-7-2 on the season, but it has come against a tough schedule, facing teams such as Michigan, Michigan State, Princeton, Boston College and West Virginia. The Terriers' win was against Connecticut (3-0) while they tied Dartmouth and American. Two of Boston University's losses have come in overtime. Anna Heilferty leads the team in goals (3), assists (2) and points (8) while Kelly Harris owns the team's lone game-winning goal. Two goalkeepers have started at least four games apiece, led by Amanda Fay who owns a 1.49 goals against average and 0.710 save percentage.

Boston University leads the all-time series vs. Lehigh, 3-0-2, with every meeting coming since the Terriers joined the Patriot League in 2013. The Mountain Hawks own a pair of ties – 0-0 last season and 1-1 in 2014.

Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will return to action at Colgate on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
