Racers fall to IUPUI
The Murray State Women's Soccer team fell to 4-5-1 overall as they dropped their final non-conference match of the season, 2-1, to IUPUI this afternoon in Indianapolis, Ind.
IUPUI came into this afternoon's game riding a seven-match winning streak and looked ready to extend that streak as they dominated the first half statistically. The Jaguars outshot the Racers 7-1 in the first half and held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks as well. The teams went into the half tied 0-0, despite the offensive attacks by IUPUI.
MSU pulled together and quickly turned the momentum around in the second half as Danielle McMurray notched her team-high fifth goal of the season in the 46th minute.
IUPUI would answer right back as Katrina McCrory tied things up in the 53rd minute after receiving a pass from Kelly Williams. The Jaguars offense proved to be too much though, as Natalie Holland scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
Katie Walsh falls to 4-2-1 overall in net as she was credited with six saves while allowing two goals.
The Racers were outshot 16-6 for the match.
The Racers return to action as they continue OVC play Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. when they travel to Martin, Tenn. to take on UT Martin at Skyhawk Field.
