The Villanova Wildats’ five signings were no small victory. For one, it’s a good group that addresses a couple different positions. But the pickup of defender Kyle Soroka is significant because he was also considering conference champion St. John's(m) as his college of choice. Anytime you can steal a player away from your stiffest competition it’s a major coup.

Soroka, of FC Delco, has youth national team experience and can play anywhere in the back or midfield.  Midfielder Kyle McCarthy will join Soroka; he’s a strong ballwinner who has enjoyed a good career with PDA in New Jersey.

Other pickups include forward Nicholas Ramirez, Emerson Lawrence and defender Ryan Whalen.

SOUTH FLORIDA
Coming off a strong season, South Florida will add two talented offensive players in Malcom Manswell and Hasani Sinclair.

Sinclair is national team camper with exceptional potential. He has unmatched athleticism and can score in a variety of ways.

Manswell, of the Baltimore Bays, is a nails defender with great athleticism and understanding of positioning and an ability to be involved in building from the back.

Both players should be big factors on the South Florida squad.

DEPAUL
Local players Eric Sorby, Matt Riggio and David Leverentz highlight DePaul’s seven signings.

It’s a good-sized class that should help the Blue Demons build for the future. DePaul already has a fairly young group and should have some good internal battles in trainings and for positions.

LOUISVILLE
The Louisville Cardinals welcome a class of eight that includes transfers Mark Night, from Santa Barbara(m), and Josh Lipka from Notre Dame.

The diverse group also includes Nick Corliss, a defender who played on the New Zealand National team. Zach Torp is a local goalkeeper with a lot of talent.

OTHERS
Syracuse forward Jackson Widner, of the Lonestars SC, will be a player to watch. He’s a good intelligent player who moves the ball well and is also good with the ball at his feet.

Frontrunner St. John’s(m) and Cincinnati didn’t officially release their signings, but the Red Storm will bring on goalkeeper Rafael Diaz, a top prospect from PDA. Tall, strong and confident, Diaz is a can’t-miss with a bright future.
