RALEIGH, N.C. - Freshman forward Laura Rose (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) scored two goals, junior midfielder Katie Greer (Massapequa, N.Y./Saint Anthony's) had two assists and the University of Cincinnati women's soccer team defeated North Carolina State University 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Field.

With the Bearcats clinging to a 2-1 lead in the 73rd minute, Rose grabbed a loose ball from freshman Callie Taylor (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) and chipped a shot past Wolfpack goalkeeper Victoria Hopkins.

Just two minutes before Rose put the Bearcats back ahead by two goals, NC State cut Cincinnati's lead to 2-1 when Wolfpack freshman forward Carolina Gentry headed a cross from redshirt sophomore forward Jennie Krauser into the net past UC sophomore goalkeeper Kristina Utley (Castro Valley, Calif./Castro Valley), who finished the match with five saves.

"It's great any time you can get a win on the road against a very good ACC team," said UC head coach Michelle Salmon. "I thought (sophomore defender Christi) Howard and Utley played very well and that our defense was well organized in the back. Obviously, Laura Rose has a fantastic weekend, as well."

UC was efficient with its offense, as the Bearcats scored three times on just nine shot attempts. NC State had 17 shots comparatively, and took nine corner kicks, while UC had two.

The Bearcats enjoyed a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to Rose and sophomore forward Mackenzie Grause (Ft.
