After playing scoreless soccer for the first 79 minutes of Friday night’s match, No. 20 Baylor and Texas tallied goals in the final 11 minutes of regulation before the Bears’ Alexa Wilde recorded the winner at 104:52 to lift BU to a 2-1 victory.

Baylor's Dana Larsen struck first, at 79:38, firing a shot from nearly 30 yards out. The ball hit the ground and bounced over the left shoulder of freshman goalkeeper Abby Smith and into the back of the net. Texas sophomore Sharis Lachappelle tallied the answer at 88:30, scoring off a free kick from 27 yards away. With just over five minutes remaining in the second overtime period, Wilde found the back of the net with a header off a cross from Larsen.

Baylor (12-1-4, 3-0-3 Big 12) wasted little time trying to get on the scoreboard as Larsen recorded the first shot of the match in the second minute, but Smith recorded the save. Texas senior Hannah Higgins tallied the Longhorns’ initial attempt in the seventh minute and it went over the goal.

Both teams were then held without a shot until the 20th minute, when Hannah Gilmore had the ball deflect off her back and directly to Smith, who came up with the save. Larsen followed 40 seconds later with another attempt, this one a header that went wide.

Texas (7-8-1, 4-2-0 Big 12) recorded its best scoring chance in the first half in the 29th minute as freshman Kelsey Shimmick broke in on Baylor goalkeeper Michelle Kloss, who dove to her left and made the save to keep the match scoreless. The Bears responded a minute later with a shot from Lisa Sliwinski that was blocked out of bounds and resulted in a corner kick, but UT cleared the attempt. Larsen took her third shot of the half at 30:08, but it missed wide.

With nine minutes remaining in the opening half, the Bears nearly got on the board as Vic Hoffman’s initial shot was blocked and Smith fell to the ground. Smith deflected Hoffman’s second shot away and a Sliwinski attempt missed wide to end the series with the match still knotted at zero.

The Longhorns’ final attempt of the opening stanza was at 39:32 off a corner kick from junior Gabby Zarnegar that Kloss knocked aside for a save.

In the second half, Sliwinski opened the offense, rolling the ball just wide at 49:23. After that initial attempt, however, neither team registered a shot until 72:38, when BU’s Hoffman fired high following a corner kick.

Texas freshman Ali Schmalz missed wide at 73:58 before the Bears’ Natalie Huggins also had her attempt role wide at 75:57.

Larsen broke the scoreless draw in the 80th minute with her ninth goal of the campaign. Larsen tried to make it a two-goal advantage in the 86th minute, but her attempt was blocked. Bri Campus fired at 85:18 and had it blocked.

With less than two minutes remaining, Texas put pressure on the Baylor defense and received a free kick. Lachappelle fired directly on Kloss and scored to tie the match in the 89th minute.

In the initial overtime period, Gilmore and Sliwinski tallied the only shots, with both attempts coming during the 99th minute.

During the final 10 minutes of the match, Baylor recorded four shots before Wilde’s winner in the 105th minute. A corner kick from Larsen at 104:43 set up the play as she sent in a cross that was headed out by Zarnegar. Larsen settled the ball and sent it back in with a cross that Wilde headed past Smith to end the match.
