Soccer Signee Lewis Receives Gatorade POY

The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA Today High School Sports announced Aaliyah Lewis of Dimond High School as its 2012-13 Gatorade Alaska Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
 
Lewis is a 2013 signee of the Alabama State soccer program and is the first Gatorade Alaska Girls Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Dimond High School.
 
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, this distinguishes Lewis as Alaska's best high school soccer player.
 
The 5-foot-4 forward led her team to a 13-0 record and a berth in the Class 4A state tournament. Lewis scored 22 goals and passed for six assists during the regular season for the Lynx. She also was an All-State selection last season and is a two-time First Team All-Cook Inlet Conference honoree.
