GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - It was a tough start to the conference season for the Trine University women’s soccer team as they fell 5-0 to Calvin. It’s the third straight loss for the Thunder, dropping them to 1-3-1 on the year.

The Knights scored the only goal they would need in the ninth minute, as they led just 1-0 at the break.

Calvin would tack on four more goals in the second half, including two that came just a minute apart. The final goal of the match came in the 85th minute as Calvin headed home the ball off a cross pass.

Freshman Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich./Olivet) made five saves in net for the Thunder.

Trine’s only shot on goal came from Sophomore Miranda Allen (Grass Lake, Mich./Grass Lake) just after the start of the second half in the 46th minute. Sophomore Eleni Agelopolous (Munster, Ind./Munster) and freshman Skyler Reed (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Carroll) also attempted a shot for the Thunder.

Trine was out-shot 27-3 on the afternoon including 10-1 on goal.

The Thunder will have another tough conference match when they travel to Hope College on September 15 for a 7:00 p.m. game.
