October 24, 2017

The Tulsa men’s soccer team fell to Saint Louis, 2-1, in overtime on Tuesday evening at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU dropped to 4-8-1 on the season, while SLU moved to 5-8-1 overall.

“I thought we possessed the ball very well for 89 minutes,” Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  “We controlled the game and had a very good performance, but I’m heartbroken for the guys for the way the game ended.  We have to be tough, regroup and get ready for the next one.”

Kay Duit put Tulsa on the board at the 79:32 mark as he punched in a rebound attempt taken by Miguel Velasquez.  TU maintained that lead for just under 10 minutes when Saadiq Mohammed headed in a free kick from five yards out for the equalizer with just 42-seconds remaining in regulation.

Anthony Brown scored the game-winning goal at the 95:16 mark as he crossed the ball from the left to right side of the goal and into the back of the net from 15 yards out.

The Golden Hurricane had a 13-11 lead in shots, while the Billikens had a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal, and Tulsa had a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

Velasquez had a team-leading five shots, Munashe Raranje added three attempts and six others had one shot.  Cooper Clark recorded all 95:16 in goal and picked up two saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Saturday, October 28 against Cincinnati.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
