U.S. U20 MNT passes measuring test
CARSON, California — The U.S. U20 Men’s National Team victory on Monday was a positive step in a long process. The U20 MNT defeated a talented, well-organized South American side, but it was a learning process for the group that will be the most valuable.
With the upcoming CONCACAF Championship and U20 World Cup in 2015, the U20 MNT is using every camp and game until then with eyes toward those larger objectives.
“This is our fourth camp, so the players that you see are players that have already gone through a process for the most part,” U20 MNT head coach Tab Ramos said after Monday’s victory. “They’re the ones that are ahead of everyone else. That is why we thought this tournament would be great for us. It would be great competition and it would be great to have a lot of them [the players] together and competing against good teams. So far, we’re getting better. We are still six months away from qualifying. We’re still trying to put the pieces together. I’m happy so far with what I see individual and what they each bring to the table.”
