MILWAUKEE - Anna Smalley had a hat trick and Sydney Senn had a pair of goals to highlight the way for the Milwaukee women's soccer team in an 11-0 victory over Chicago State University Wednesday at Engelmann Stadium.
 
The Panthers (4-3-2) did not find the back of the net against the Cougars (1-6-0) until the 20^th minute, but Smalley's first of the game opened the floodgates.
 
Smalley netted the initial tally of the day on a header off a corner kick by Maria Stephans at the 19:04 mark. Less than 90 seconds later it was Smalley again, finding the back of the net at the 20:31 mark, slotting in a shot from Ashley Burkhardt that banged off the left post and bounced right to her. She settled it quickly to make it 2-0.
 
Burkhardt then got rewarded just 1:14 later, scoring her first goal of the campaign when she volleyed home a combination of crossing passes at the 21:45 mark.
 
Smalley completed the first hat trick for a Panther since Krissy Dorre accomplished the feat against Vanderbilt in September of 2013, finishing a short attempt from near the top of the six-yard box at the 28:17 mark.
 
Smalley came out of the contest at that point, netting three goals on just three shots in 29 minutes of action.
 
Next, Aubrey Krahn got the crowd back to its feet before most even sat down, making it 5-0 just 35 seconds after the fourth tally was recorded.
 
Milwaukee ended the first half up 8-0, adding strikes by Marissa Stovring (31:12, her second of the season), Senn (35:31, first) and Kelly Manski (36:55, first).
 
The Panthers came out firing out of intermission, with Callie O'Donnell knocking in her team-best fourth of the season in the 50^th minute and Senn completing her brace on a chip over the keeper off passes from Krahn and Anny West in the 53^rd minute to make it 10-0.
 
Plenty of substitutes saw playing time on the night, with 15 players making their way on to the pitch, with all of them playing 26 minutes or more.
 
A little school history was all that was left. Olivia Wright and Saebryn Peel combined to set up Abbey Hoerchner's header at the 83:50 mark, giving UWM its third-highest goal output in school history (only the school record of 16 against Western Illinois in 1997 and 12 against Valparaiso in 1993 rank higher). The pair of assists gave the Panthers 16 on the evening, tying the school record set in the 16-goal contest against WIU.
 
In addition to Smalley and Senn's feats, Krahn finished with a goal and two assists, Maddie Tetzke had a pair of assists and reserves West and Peel both finished with two helpers apiece.
 
Burkhardt and O'Donnell both finished with three points (1G/1A). The Panthers ended the night with overwhelming advantages of 37-to-5 in shots, 20-to-3 in shots on goal and 9-to-1 in corner kicks.
 
Lauren Rice made her first start as a Panther, picking up the win with one save over the first 45 minutes. Olivia Davies played the entire second half, making a pair of saves to preserve the shutout.
 
Up next, Milwaukee opens Horizon League play Friday against UIC. Game time is 7 p.m. against the Flames.
