Missouri State women battle South Dakota State to draw

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Missouri State women’s soccer team (4-3-2) battled South Dakota State (2-3-2) for 110 minutes to earn a 0-0 draw to open the Kansas Invitational today.

Missouri State goalkeeper Jessica Teahan made seven saves, including a stop on Christa Nyblom in the waning seconds, to secure her third consecutive shutout.  Teahan has now gone more than 342 minutes without allowing a goal.  She now has a 0.847 goals against average and five shutouts on the season.

Senior Samantha Aguilar had three of the Bears 12 shots in the match.  Jennifer Hamlin, Becky Handley and Rachel Weimer each tallied two shots.

The Jackrabbits outshot the Bears in the first half, but Missouri State responded after half time, outshooting SDSU seven to five in the second period.  The Bears also earned three second half corners and five in the match.  SDSU keeper Daniella Pappas made five saves to keep the Bears off of the scoreboard.

The Bears will wrap up the Kansas Invitational on Sunday against No. 18 San Diego at 10:30 a.m. at Jayhawk Soccer Complex.  Missouri State will return home to open conference play against UNI on Sunday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m.
