St. Louis women fall to St. Bonaventure

Updated: September 29, 2009
OLEAN, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure’s Kaitlin Krisko scored a goal just 1:11 into Sunday’s Atlantic 10 Conference game against St. Louis(w), and the Bonnies made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over the Billikens at McGraw-Jennings Field.

Saint Louis (3-5-2, 0-1-1) registered a 10-2 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks but could not overcome the early deficit. Krisko’s goal, her first of the season, was assisted by Janelle Taylor and occurred on a free kick following a SLU hand-ball infraction.

St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Nicole Markert made three saves, including a rejection of Julia Bradenberg’s penalty kick at the 75:12 mark. The Billikens mounted a challenge with a couple of late shots within a minute of each other, but Markert stopped Allison Hu’s attempt at 86:49 and Kelly Waeckerle’s shot at 87:36 unfortunately connected with the goalpost.

St. Bonaventure improved to 4-6 overall and 2-0 in the A-10.

The Billikens host Massachusetts Friday, Oct. 2. Game time at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is 7 p.m.
