Updated: October 4, 2009
GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Wisconsin-Green Bay men's soccer team opened up home conference play with 3-0 shut-out win over Detroit in front of a crowd of 150 spectators who braved the chilly conditions.

Senior David Znaty (Hadera, Israel) opened up the scoring when JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) found him on the left side of the box. Znaty laid the ball in the lower right hand corner of the net giving Green Bay the 1-0 lead.

During the 28th minute Znaty scored his fifth goal of the season off a penalty kick. Znaty faked the goalie right and put the ball in the left side of the net for the 2-0 lead at the break.

Early in the second period Francois Basty (Beauzelle, France) passed the ball to AJ Konchar (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) off a cornerkick from David Prochazka (Gothenburg, Sweeden) for the securing goal. The goal was Konchar's second of the season and Prochazka's assist was a team-high seventh of the season.

The Phoenix outshot Detroit 12-6 and 6-1 on corner kicks in the 3-0 win.

Green Bay improves to 7-1-2 overall and 2-1-0 in conference. The Phoenix will be back at home Sunday as they host Cleveland State in a Horizon League match-up at noon.
