Oregon State women fall to UCLA

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of No. 4 UCLA in Pac-10 Conference action on Sunday. With the loss, Oregon State falls to 10-5-1, 2-3-0 in conference play as UCLA improves to 14-2-1, 5-1-0 in league action, with the win.
UCLA grabbed the lead early in the first half as Sydney Leroux connected on her 15th goal in the season in the 15th minute. Off a long free kick from Lauren Barnes, Leroux headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Bruins the lead.
Oregon State managed to hold UCLA scoreless for the rest of the half, however, the Bruins connected on a pair of tallies over the final 45 minutes to put the game away. Chelsea Cline connected on a goal in the 66th minute as Liz Zadro added a tally in the 81st minute to give UCLA the 3-0 shutout victory.
Chante Sandiford picked up the win for UCLA, making one stop on the day as Colleen Boyd made four stops in goal for Oregon State in the loss.
UCLA held a 17-5 edge in shots while corner kicks were tied at 2-2.
Red Nixon and Melissa Peck each had two shots to lead the Beavers as Oregon State picked up a split on the weekend after defeating No. 9 USC, 2-1, on Friday.
Oregon State will return to action on Friday, Oct. 30, when the Beavers host Washington State at 7:30 p.m.
