La Salle women lose to St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, NY - Melanie Gamble scored her sixth goal of the season in the fifth minute, however St. Bonaventure responded with a pair of goals, including the game winner just over six minutes into the first overtime to defeat La Salle's Soccer, 2-1, in an Atlantic 10 Conference match, Friday afternoon.
The Explorers got on the board early in the game, as Gamble took a pass from Traci DePasquale and tallied her 17th career goal in the Blue and Gold just 4:33 into the match.
It was DePasquale's 30th assist of her career and the 12th of 2009, tying the mark for most ever in a single season at the school (Tracey Spinelli, 2000).
However, the Bonnies responded 13 minutes later as Courtney Bosse registered her eighth goal of the season at the 17:47 mark, off assists from Dakota Carroll and Tori Burchett.
The team's played scoreless the rest of the way in regulation time, as Bonnie goalkeeper Nicole Markert made six saves and Melissa Sanger stopped three shots.
St. Bonaventure (10-9-0, 7-3-0 A-10) scored the game winner 6:20 into the first extra session off a free kick by Hannah Lapp, which Anna Cunningham headed into the net.
La Salle (10-7-2, 4-5-1 A-10) has just one regular season match left to play, at Duquesne on Sunday with a 1 PM kickoff. As of right now, they still stand in a tie for sixth place in the conference standings and need a win over the Dukes to at least have a chance to advance to the A-10 Championship.
