Michigan State men fall to Penn State in Big Ten semis

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Penn State’s Corey Hertzog scored twice in a 10-minute span in the fi rst half and then added another goal late as the Michigan State men’s soccer team fell to Penn State, 3-0, in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday (Nov. 13) in Bloomington, Ind. Th e Spartans (11-7-2) will now await their NCAA Championship fate; the fi eld will be announced on Monday (Nov. 16) evening.
Hertzog’s first goal came in the 19th minute off a cross from Matheus Braga and followed with his second goal just over ten minutes later to put the Spartans in an early hole.
Hertzog got his final tally of the day in the 84th minute to close the scoring.
Stephen Lucianek led MSU with three shots, including two on goal, for the game. The second-seeded Nittany Lions outshot the Spartans, 18-10, for the game.
The NCAA Championship selection show will air live at 5:30 p.m. on Monday on ESPNews.
