December 6, 2009
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Zack Schilawski and Andy Lubahn scored second half goals to lead No. 2 Wake Forest (17-3-3) to a 2-0 victory against No. 8 UCLA (12-4-4) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament on a cold Saturday night at Spry Stadium.
“It was a tremendous college soccer game tonight with a tremendous amount of skill and soccer out on the field in tough conditions,” head coach Jay Vidovich said. “I’m just very proud of my guys and the performance that they put out. They absorbed a lot of pressure from UCLA at different times. Hats off to UCLA – what a tremendous team and a tremendous year they had. But once again, I’m just happy with the way my guys found their goals and the way they defended ours.”
