ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Former Wake Forest midfielder Corben Bone finished third in the voting for the 2009 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, as announced on Friday evening at the Missouri Athletic Club.
Bone was looking to be the second straight Wake Forest player to win the most prestigious individual honor in college soccer. Last season, Marcus Tracy won the trophy, becoming the first Wake Forest player to win the award.
Akron’s Teal Bunbury was named the winner of the award, while Andre Akpan of Harvard finished second in the voting.
A native of Plano, Texas, Bone enjoyed a stellar junior season, finishing the year with three goals and 13 assists. Bone ranked second in the ACC in assists and 13th nationally in assists per game. The 2009 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, Bone was a consensus first team All-American following the season, earning first team accolades from the NSCAA, Soccer America, College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer.
