Nebraska women announce spring 2010 schedule
January 30, 2010
Lincoln – The Nebraska soccer coaching staff has announced a 10-game schedule for the 2010 spring season, highlighted by an April 17 home match-up against Big Ten foe Minnesota at the Nebraska Soccer Field. The Huskers will take five road trips to face eight opponents, including six who qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament.
Nebraska and Minnesota will face off at the Nebraska Soccer Field on Saturday, April 17 at 9:30 a.m., just prior to the Husker football team’s spring game at Memorial Stadium. Following the match, NU will travel to Omaha to take on Creighton at 4 p.m., before concluding its spring season on Sunday, April 18 at the Nebraska Soccer Field against the Alumni.
The Huskers will take four consecutive road trips to open the spring season, beginning Feb. 27 in Athens, Ga., against the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles. Nebraska travels to Tempe, Ariz., the following week for a rematch against 2009 opponent Arizona State, while also battling the BYU Cougars.
After two weeks off, the Huskers will have two matches at Virginia on March 28, before its final road trip to Milwaukee to face Marquette and Wisconsin-Milwaukee on April 11.
Georgia, Arizona State, BYU, Virginia, Marquette and Wisconsin-Milwaukee all qualified for the 2009 NCAA Tournament. The NCAA allows teams to play on five dates during the spring season, not including the Alumni game.
Nebraska finished last year with an 11-5-4 record. The Huskers return eight of 11 starters this coming fall, including the reigning Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year Morgan Marlborough and All-Big 12 second-team selection Molly Thomas.
