UNC, Stanford remain 1-2; Vancil named POTW

North Carolina has retained the top spot of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Tournament 64 National Ranking following a 2-2 draw with Stanford on Friday and a 6-1 win over Missouri Sunday. Stanford stays at #2 following the draw and a 2-1 win over Duke.

The Friday night match was quite a thriller and certainly makes the prospect of a national championship rematch between the two in December that much more likely, but both Anson Dorrance, who won his 699th game for the Tar Heels, and Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe will be quick to point out there is a lot of soccer to be played before that can happen.
