South Florida women beat Murray State

In their first road game of the 2010 season, the University of South Florida women’s soccer team (2-0-0) used three second half goals to open the Racer Classic with a strong statement en route to a 4-2 win over host Murray State (0-1-2)Friday afternoon.
Junior Chelsea Klotz netted a pair of goals and junior Gina Pacheco racked up a goal and two assists in the win over the Racers.
Klotz, who took a feed from Pacheco to give the Bulls a 1-0 advantage in the 41st minute, moved into sole possession of fourth on the Bulls all-time goal scoring list with the eventual winner at the 69:09 mark in game. Both of Klotz’s goals came off of assists from Pacheco.
After a bit of a slow start to the match, the Bulls mounted 2-0 lead after Pacheco found the back of the net just minutes into the second half off a feed from fellow junior Molly Stack for her first mark of the season.
USF’s junior class continued to be the story of the afternoon as Venicia Reid tallied the fourth and final goal for the Bulls off a feed from Noelle Pineiro in the 84th minute.
Senior keeper Nicole McClure wasn’t challenged often but picked up the win by stopping two of the four Racer's shots on goal..
The Racers cut into the Bulls’ 4-1 lead by tacking on a final goal in the matches final seconds for the matches final 4-2 outcome.
In the first meeting between the two schools, USF outshot the racers 18-12 on the afternoon. USF put nine on their 18 shots on goal. Klotz and Pacheco led the way for the Bulls with five shots apiece.
The 2-0 start is the first since 2006 and is the first under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown.
USF will have a their first Friday-Sunday turnaround when they will close out the 2010 Racer Classic when they take on Southeast Missouri State on Sunday at noon.
