Fullerton women draw with USF

Moraga, Calif. - Nick Posthuma converted a pass from Celso Alvarez into a goal from about 10 yards out in the 70th minute and that earned Cal State Fullerton a 1-1 tie with USF at the Saint Mary's Tournament Sunday in Moraga.

The Titans (0-0-2) had fallen behind on a goal by the Dons' (1-0-1) Jeff Penna in the 43rd minute.

Trevor Whiddon was credited with 3 saves in the Titans' net while Brendan Roslund stopped 8 Fullerton shots for USF, which had upset No. 9-ranked Northwestern, 1-0, at home on Friday night.

The Titans outshot the Dons, 20-10.
Saint Mary's won its own tourney with a 3-2 win over Northwestern later Sunday. The Gaels jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes and withstood two late Northwestern goals.

Fullerton opens its home season this weekend with a tournament of its own. The Titans will play San Jose State on Friday night and Washington on Sunday. Cal State Northridge is the fourth team.

Saint Mary's (first-place) 1-0-1 (win tiebreaker with USF on 'goals for') Win/Loss record was a tie, head-to head they did not face each other and goal difference was also a tie.
