TAMPA (Sept. 7, 2010) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team returned to the friendly confines of the USF Soccer Stadium tonight looking for its first win of the season, after hitting the road and playing to a hard fought 0-0 double overtime draw on Saturday at Saint Louis.

After ending a 30 game home undefeated streak with a 2-1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Sept. 1, senior Shawn Chin wasted no time in starting a new home streak against the Seawolves.

After in early foul by Stony Brook only 1:16 into the game, Chin took a free kick from 30-yards out near the top left corner of the box. With the defense parting on the hard shot, goalkeeper Danny Bonomini was not able to react to the ball streaking by his head to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead.

On the opposite end of the field, All-American Jeff Attinella was once again a wall as he recorded his 19th career shutout, while making six saves and increasing his total to 171 for his career.

With 3:31 left in the first half, junior Aubrey Perry lasered a shot down the right side that beat Bonomini, however deflected off the crossbar, keeping the Bulls lead to one.

In the 57th minute, Wilbur Bonilla, the Seawolves top shot taker, sent a shot to the top of the goal, but Attinella jumped and punched it out to keep the shutout intact.

With 20 minutes remaining, USF took three shots in a two minute span, two on goal which went off the Bonomini’s finger tips.

With the pressure continuing from USF’s offense, Stony Brook tried to find a reason not to allow another Bulls shot but Craig Hanton fouled redshirt junior Bernardo Anor in the penalty box five yards from the goal.

Anor, who was one of the Bulls scoring leaders in 2009, easily put his first goal of 2010 in the back right corner of net to give the Bulls a 2-0 advantage.

In the 79th minute, a foul right outside of the penalty box was taken by Stony Brooks’ Cristian Quevedo who blocked by USF’s wall and cleared out by the Bulls defense.

USF closes out its short two-match home stretch when it faces Virginia Tech in a nationally televised contest on Fox Soccer Channel on Friday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m.
