Boston College men beat Dartmouth
October 28, 2010
NEWTON, Mass. – Junior midfielder Amit Aburmad broke a 1-1 tie in the 89th minute to lift No. 18 Boston College to a 2-1 non-league win over Dartmouth at Newton Campus Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Aburmad snapped the tie with his left for his third goal of the season at 88:56. Junior defender Patrick Chin assisted on the goal, Aburmad’s second decisive score in as many weeks. The Zofim, Israel native also scored the game-winning goal in the second half of the team’s 2-1 win at Harvard just more than one week ago.
Each of the game’s three goals were scored in the second half of play.
Sophomore Isaac Taylor lit the scoreboard first, tallying his first goal of the season at 52:51 to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Taylor, an Ashton, Md., resident who was seeing his first game action since mid-September against Fairfield, notched his second career goal off a feed from sophomore forward Charlie Rugg.
Dartmouth tied the match in the 73rd minute. Teo Larsson-Sax scored off a header from six yards out, beating Eagle goalkeeper Justin Luthy at 72:50.
Luthy registered three saves in the first half and one in the second.
Boston College finished with a 13-12 shot advantage in the contest.
The Eagles will take to the road for two games to conclude their 2010 regular season. BC will travel to Wake Forest on Saturday, Oct. 30 and travel to Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 5.
Team Records: Dartmouth – 6-6-1; Boston College – 8-2-5
Game Notes: Taylor’s goal marked his second career score against the Big Green. He previously notched the golden goal in the 103rd minute of a 2-1 home win over Dartmouth that sent Boston College to the NCAA Tournament’s second round last November … Dartmouth enjoyed a 9-6 edge in corner kicks.
