Old Dominion men lose to James Madison

NORFOLK, VA—C.J. Sapong scored two second half goals within 38 seconds of each other to lead the Dukes
of James Madison (8-5-2/ 3-5-1) to a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association win over Old Dominion (7-6-2/3-4-2)Wednesday night.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first half, but with a little less than four minutes remaining Sapong, the CAA’s leading scorer with 30 points hit a shot from the top of the box to give the Dukes a 1-0 lead. Sapong then gathered a deflection to score his second goal with 3:04 left in the match for a 2-0 lead.
JMU outshot ODU, 13-11 and 6-5 in shots on goals. JMU’s keeper Ken Manahan had five saves, while ODU’s keeper Evan Newton had four saves.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday night when they host the Huskies of Northeastern at 7 p.m. in the final home match of the season.
