The second weekly NSCAA regional rankings update is here, and with it comes the first shakeup of the eight boys regional polls and the six girls polls. After both national polls got new No. 1s this week, it's understood that the more fragmentary regional rankings got their own shakeups as well.

For the girls, here are breakdowns of each of the six regions and some of the most interesting movements of each.

Region I

New England powers dominated the first week of polling, as the top five is utterly unchanged from last week. Exeter, Franklin, Beverly, Scarborough and Champlain Valley, all of which are entrenched in four respective states as leviathans, started the season a combined 11-0-0.

1. Exeter (Exeter, N.H.)

2. Franklin (Franklin, Mass.)

3. Beverly (Beverly, Mass.)

4. Scarborough (Scarborough, Maine)

5. Champlain Valley Union (Hinesburg, Vt.)

6. Northwest Catholic (West Hartford, Conn.)

7. Central Catholic (Lawrence, Mass.)

8. Merrimack (Merrimack, N.H.)

9. Exeter (West Greenwich, R.I.)

14. Bow (Bow, N.H.)

15. Nashoba Regional (Nashoba, Mass.)

Region II

While South Side lost its national No. 1 ranking this week, it didn't lose its grip at the pinnacle of arguably the toughest girls region in the country. Unsurprisingly, since New York hadn't kicked off its season yet as of this regional poll, there was no movement here from last week.

1. South Side (Rockville Center, N.Y.)

2. Washingtonville (Washingtonville, N.Y.)

3. Islip (Islip, N.Y.)

4. St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.)

Region III

While Northern Highlands held onto its No. 1 spot in Region III, Peters Township couldn't keep hold of its No. 2 ranking. Peters Township lost two-time Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year Veronica Latsko for the season to a torn ACL in May, and the team lost its first game of the season to drop to 3-1-0 and to No. 14 in the poll.

1. Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.)

Region IV

This Central Atlantic region was shaken up at the top more than any other national region. McDonogh started the season as the No. 1 and dropped to No. 14 this week after a lackluster 1-2-1 start. Tates Creek, last week's No. 3, fell into a tie for 15th with its 5-2-1 record. Houston stepped into the breach at 7-0-0, while McDonogh rival Good Counsel slid into the No. 2 spot at 2-0-1.

1. Houston (Germantown, Tenn.)

t15. Scott County (Georgetown, Ky.)

Region V

Twinsburg hopped into the poll for the first time at No. 4, while Walsh Jesuit scooted up two spots to No. 2 to sit cozily behind incumbent No. 1 Carmel, which started a perfect 4-0-0. Ohio outfit Strongsville, which was No. 2 last week, is out of the poll this week thanks in part to a weekend loss to Zionsville, which is No. 5 at 3-1-0.

14. Noblesville (Noblesville, Ind.)

15. Pickerington North (Pickerington, Ohio)

Region VI

A loss-based tumble from Alta from No. 2 to No. 10 allowed a few teams to move up behind No. 1 Maria Carrillo, which still hasn't lost a game. Issaquah moved up to No. 2, while Jesuit, Skyline and Eldorado also moved up to fill out a new top five. The looming battle for district supremacy between Seattle-area powers Issaquah and Skyline remains the most enticing future matchup in this region.

1. Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.)

2. Issaquah (Issaquah, Wash.)

3. Jesuit (Portland, Ore.)

4. Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.)
