HS: Winter state, region rankings, Dec. 28
High school play was limited to last Monday and Tuesday with just a few Staurday contests last week. However, it was just enough to provide a little movement in this week's state and regional rankings.
Here's a look at some of the week's big winners:
BOYS
Palos Verdes (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.). A 5-0 tournament showing improved the team's record to 10-0-1 on the season and vaults this team to No. 8 in California-South region and No. 11 in California state rankings.
[Valencia/Placentia ca-m] (Placentia, Calif.). Like Palos Verdes, a perfect tournament run last week helps this team make its state and region debut this week.
GIRLS
An 0-2-2 showing by last week's California-South top four-ranked teams allowed Aliso Niguel (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) to jump to No. 1 in the region without playing a match.
