Thierrien helped guide his high school side to Texas’ ultimate prize last week. With a 2-1 win over Pharr Valley View, Byron Nelson won the Class 4A state title, the first boys state title in any sport in the school’s five-year history. Therrien helped keep dangerous striker Jose Soto out of the net (Soto set the state record with 78 goals this season) to capture the hardware. Therrien, who won MVP of the title game, finished the season with 18 shutouts as Byron Nelson finished the year 28-1-2.

Duncan is off to a fast start for her Georgia side. She already has 14 goals for Madison County, and last week she set the school record for shots in a single season when she eclipsed 76 to bring her season total to 85 to pair with her four assists. Finally, she put in a hat trick last week to guide Madison County to an impressive 5-0 win in regional play.

Other boys finalists include Nick Price (Coppell High School, Coppell, Texas) and Jose Flores (Pharr Valley View High School, Pharr, Texas). Other girls finalists include Taryn Neameyer (Bismarck Century High School, Bismarck, N.D.) and Courtney Doeschot (Millard South High School, Omaha, Neb.).

The NSCAA/TopDrawerSoccer.com High School Player of the Week honor is designed to highlight a selection of the nation's rising stars populating the high school ranks. Coaches are free to nominate a boys or girls player each week through our submission form that can be found here. Be sure to include the school and any relevant stats from the previous week. The selection process will take into account a slew of factors from contribution to team results to individual accolades. Honorees are announced each Wednesday.

The next submission deadline will be noon (CT) on April 28 before the Player of the Week announcement on April 30.
