FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: California (fall section only), Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (private), West Virginia, Wisconsin.

The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

Season Complete. New Jersey Prep A state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 650 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Fabio DeSousa scored in the fifth minute and that was all St. Benedict's needed in a 1-0 victory over Prep Top 10-ranked Blair Academy in the Prep A state final, which marked St. Benedict's 27th straight state title. The team of 20 seniors, led by Monmouth commit Johnny Antunes and a number of other NCAA Division I-bound players, outshot Blair 26-1. The Gray Bees went wire-to-wire as the SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 team this year, beating teams from seven states and never trailing in any match this year. The team's key wins were over New York CHSAA champ Chaminade (5-0) along with SIMA FAB 50-ranked and state champions Haverford School (Pa.), Summit Country Day (Ohio) and Salesianum (Del.).
2 (2) St. Ignatius Cleveland, OH 22-0-1*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,450 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Xavier commit Stephen Milhoan, a junior, Hayden Parente, junior Riley Houde and Pitt commit Lawrence Karpeh scored goals as St. Ignatius pulled away for a 4-0 state final win over Hilliard-Davidson. The Wildcats netted three of their goals in the final 20 minutes to secure a second straight state title and seventh state title in the past 12 seasons.
3 (3) McDonogh School Owings Mills, MD 21-0-1*
Season Complete. Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,350 students, grades K-12.
NOTES: Cale Thorne and Chris MacDonald scored the goals as McDonogh rallied for a 2-1 victory over Archbishop Curley in the MIAA A final, the Eagles' third win over Curley this season. Reese Mayer assisted both goals. The win wrapped up a three-year run where McDonogh is 61-1-2. This year's team was led offensively by George Mason commit Tunde Akinsolotu and sophomore Steve Nichols and defensively by Wake Forest commit Mike DeShields and Clemson commit Cale Thorne.
4 (4) Central Bucks East Doylestown, PA 26-0-0*
Season Complete. Pennsylvania Class AAA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,650 students, grades 10-12.
NOTES: Evan Vare assisted the first goal and scored the second as Central Bucks East capped a perfect season with a 2-0 win over Seneca Valley in the state final. Brian Gilligan netted the first goal. Austin Prime recorded the shutout in goal for the Patriots. The win sent longtime coach Mike Gorni into coaching retirement with his first state title after 21 seasons at the helm.

South Mecklenburg Charlotte, NC 23-0-2*
Season Complete. North Carolina Class 4A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,550 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Marco Garcia's 39th goal of the season gave South Mecklenburg the lead and Brad Scharf added the clincher as the Sabres won their first title since 1971 with a 2-0 victory over E.A. Laney. Garcia and junior Reed Hunnicut were named to the North Carolina Class 4A all-state team.

Forest Hills Central Grand Rapids, MI 23-0-3*
Season Complete. Michigan Division I state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Anthony Bowie's 41st goal of the season gave Forest Hills Central a 1-0 lead en route to a 2-0 victory over defending state champion Canton. Mohamed Haji added an insurance goal in the closing 90 seconds, giving the program its first state title since 2004.
7 (7) Delbarton School Morristown, NJ 23-1-0*
Season Complete. New Jersey Non-Public A state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 550 students, grades 7-12.
NOTES: John Gerard and Bobby Fabricant scored the goals while Delbarton's stingy defense posted its 18th shutout in a 2-0 state final win over Christian Brothers. Delbarton has won four straight state titles. The match signaled the end of the coaching career of Christian Brothers' Dan Keane, who guided the program to more than 500 wins in 38 seasons.
8 (8) Blue Valley Northwest Overland Park, KS 19-1-0*
Season Complete. Kansas Class 6A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,700 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Jordan Stenberg delivered the match-winning penalty kick after keeper Connor Mathes came up with a save in the shootout as the Huskies edged Washburn Rural following a 2-2 match.

Libertyville Libertyville, IL 19-3-1*
Season Complete. Illinois Class 3A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,000 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Ryan Wittenbrink scored twice, both goals assisted by Liam O'Connell as the Wildcats built a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 victory over Quincy in the state final. Libertyville's run to the state title included wins over SIMA FAB 50-ranked Evanston and Morton. The title marked a first for long-time coach Andy Bitta, who sports a 437-133-60 record in 31 seasons at Libertyville.

Washington Township Sewell, NJ 25-1-1*
Season Complete. New Jersey Group 4 state champion.
School Facts: Public, 2,600 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: A year after finishing No. 2 in the SIMA FAB 50, Washington Township secured another Top 10 finish with a second straight state title. Ryan Logar shook off a serious left ankle injury to score the lone goal in a 1-0 state final win over West Orange. Logar also scored the game-winning in the state semifinals. Goalkeeper Matt Tini set a school record with 18 shutouts behind a defense led by sweeper Marc Murgo.
11 (11) Milwaukee Marquette Milwaukee, WI 19-2-0*
Season Complete. Wisconsin Division 1 state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,085 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Casey Reich scored three goals and Alec Philippe had three assists as the senior-lead Hilltoppers cruised to a 5-2 win over Arrowhead for an 11th WIAA state title.

Cicero Morton Cicero, IL 27-3-0*
Season Complete. Illinois Class 3A third-place finisher.
School Facts: Public, 8,075 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Despite a nearly 2-1 advantage in shots, Morton ended up on the short end of a 2-1 state semifinal loss to eventual state champion Libertyville. The Mustangs bounced back to defeat Bartlett 2-0 in the consolation match.

Walt Whitman Huntington Station, NY 19-1-1*
Season Complete. New York Class AA state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,800 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Witman Hernandez scored three goals in the state semifinal and two in the final as Walt Whitman delivered one of the most dominating performances ever in New York Class AA history. In the two-match state tournament, Whitman rolled up 12 goals. In the final, Whitman defeated Ballston Spa 5-1 for the program's first ever title. Prior to the state tournament, Whitman knocked off FAB 50-ranked Brentwood 1-0.

Jesuit Carmichael, CA 24-2-1*
Season Complete. California Sac-Joaquin Division I champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,070 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Jared Alameida had a goal and one assist and Harvard commit Mitch Johnston scored a goal as Jesuit edged Oak Ridge 2-1 in the closing minutes of the section final. The Marauders shook off a 5-2 start to end the season with a 20-match undefeated streak, which included a win over Lincoln, the Oregon large-school state champion. Jesuit was 23-0-1 against California opponents.

La Salle Academy Providence, RI 18-0-0*
Season Complete. Rhode Island Division I state champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,475 students, grades 7-12.
NOTES: Jacob Fitting scored twice and Victor Rey converted a penalty kick as La Salle Academy handled South Kingstown 3-0 in the state final. the win marked La Salle's ninth state title since 2000 and the team, with Providence commits Alex DaCosta, a midfielder, and Anthony Billeri, a goalkeeper, earns the highest-ever FAB 50 ranking for a Rhode island program.

Haverford School Haverford, PA 19-3-2*
Season Complete. Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 450 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: A shot by Brown commit Connor Gregory was deflected into the goal, carrying Haverford to a 1-0 state final win over rival Malvern Prep. The win avenged one of the team's defeats as the Fords won their third state title in five seasons. Haverford had losses to top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) and prep school power Berkshire School (Mass.), a match that Berkshire counted as a scrimmage. Gregory was the Fords' leading scorer and the team also featured Villanova commits and twins Shane and Conor Bradley, who played for Philadelphia Union in the Development Academy.

Hilliard Davidson Hilliard, OH 18-2-3*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I state runner-up.
School Facts: Public, 1,710 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: After a surprise victory over previously undefeated Mason in the state semifinals, Hilliard Davidson did not have the firepower to hang with St. Ignatius in a state final loss. Ryan Lang and Tanner Montgomery scored for Hilliard Davidson in a 2-1 state semifinal win over Mason.

Season Complete. Ohio Division I state semifinalist.
School Facts: Public, 3,325 students, grades 7-12.
NOTES: Despite outshooting Hilliard Davidson 26-3, Mason lost the state semifinal clash 2-1 -- the team's only setback of the season. Mason played SIMA FAB 50 No. 2 St. Ignatius to a tie early in the season.

Broomfield Broomfield, CO 18-2-0*
Season Complete. Colorado Class 5A state champion.
School Facts: Public, 1,410 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Senior Cody Ewing netted the game-winning goal three minutes into overtime as Broomfield edged Mountain Vista 2-1 for its second straight state title. The victory marked the sixth state title for veteran coach Jim Davidson.

Cincinnati Elder Cincinnati, OH 14-2-4*
Season Complete. Ohio Division I region semifinalist.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 900 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Elder's season ended with a loss to Mason in the region semifinals. During the regular season, Elder defeated eventual Kentucky state champion Covington Catholic.
21 Summit Country Day Cincinnati, OH 20-3-0*
Season Complete. Ohio Division III state champion.
School Facts: Private, 1,050 students, grades PK-12.
NOTES: Summit Country Day ended its season with a 17-match win streak, which included a win over Kentucky state champion Covington Catholic. David Cook, Sam Martin and Eli Rawlings each scored two goals as Summit Country Day rolled to a 9-0 state final win over South Range. Summit Country Day started the season 3-3 with losses to top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) and a one-goal setback to No. 20 Elder.
22 (22) Covington Catholic Covington, KY 24-2-2*
Season Complete. Kentucky state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 500 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Covington Catholic was undefeated in Kentucky, capped with a 3-0 state title victory over Henry Clay. Griffin Lamb scored twice and Jacob Litzler netted the other goal as Covington Catholic became the first Northern Kentucky program to win a state title. En route to the final, the Colonels knocked off Louisville Trinity.
23 (23) Louisville Trinity Louisville, KY 20-2-2*
Season Complete. Kentucky state quarterfinalist.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Louisville Trinity's bid for a state title ended with a 2-1 loss to eventual champion Covington Catholic in the state quarterfinals. The teams had played to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, as well. Trinity posted marquee wins over Salesianum (Del.) and SLUH (Mo.), both perennial SIMA FAB 50 programs.
24 (24) Salesianum Wilmington, DE 14-3-1*
Season Complete. Delaware state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,300 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Gavin Ford and Trevor Claire scored second-half goals as Salesianum won its sixth straight state title with a 2-0 decision over Charter School of Wilmington. Salesianum has won state titles 12 of the last 14 years, and with 18 underclassmen on the roster, the team will be a strong favorite in 2016. Salesianum's losses this year were to top-ranked St. Benedict's (N.J.), large-school state champ Washington Township (N.J.) and Louisville Trinity (Ky.).
25 (25) Chaminade Mineola, NY 18-2-2*
Season Complete. New York Catholic Class AA state champion.
School Facts: Private, all-boys, 1,750 students, grades 9-12.
NOTES: Matt Vowinkel scored twice to pace Chaminade to a 5-0 victory over Canisius in the state final. The result reinforced the quality of the Long Island Catholic schools as league play gave the Flyers more competition than the two-match state tournament, where the team did not allow a shot. Chaminade had an early loss to FAB 50-ranked Brentwood and also fell to top-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.). The Flyers went 2-0-1 against FAB 50-ranked St. Anthony's.
