FAB 50 High School Soccer Team Rankings

The fall season includes the following states: California (fall), Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia (private), West Virginia, Wisconsin. The rankings are compiled by high school rankings editor Sheldon Shealer.

It was deja vu for junior standout Mike DeShields and McDonogh last week. DeShields, who scored in the closing seconds to give McDonogh a dramatic victory over St. Paul's in the MIAA A final last year, scored with less than four minutes remaining in the second overtime to again carry the Eagles to a 1-0 win over the Crusaders last week.

Delbarton was pushed to the brink before surviving a shootout win over Randolph in the county tournament.

Copley Copley, OH 15-0-1
Christian Harter scored twice as Copley defeated the state coaches' Division II No. 1 team Revere 4-1 to clinch the league title. Copley moves to No. 3 after adding to its tally of wins over current and recent FAB 50 programs.
4 (4) St. Benedict's Prep Newark, NJ 13-1-0
In a week of close calls for most of the Top 5, St. Benedict's needed an overtime goal by Victor Villagomez to edge Salesianum (Del.) 1-0. Salesianum handed St. Benedict's its only loss in 2013 in a double overtime affir at NJIT.

MLK delivered win No. 400 at the school for Martin Jacobson with a 1-0 win over Shea (R.I.), Rhode Island's top-ranked team. Jacobson is 400-17-6 since taking over the MLK program in 1994.

Ryan Ebert delivered goals in both outings as Chaminde posted wins over St. Mary's and John Burroughs.

Fayetteville Academy's 6-1 win over Cape Fear Academy last week marked only the second goal scored on the team since Sept. 6.

Washburn Rural is one win away from its 20th straight league title following one-sided wins over Emporia and Topeka West last week. Austin Halsey has 18 goals and 6 assists this season, making him the program's all-time leader in goals (45) and assists (31).

Erik Peachey scored the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining as Lancaster Mennonite, the nation's largest Mennonite high school, edged Cedar Crest 3-2 to advance to this week's Lancaster-Lebanon League semifinals. Lancaster Mennonite won four matches last week and three the week before.

Matt Williams scored four goals last week with at least one in each of the team's three wins to close out an undefeated regular season.

Upper St. Clair defeated Brashear and Mount Lebanon last week to carry an undefeated record into this week's showdown against state-ranked Pittsburgh Central Catholic, which is 17-0.

Justin Cebollero scored four goals and added one assist last week as Commack won three matches. Commack meets SIMA FAB 50 No. 27 Brentwood this week in the second of two league matches. Commack's win the first time around vaulted the team into the FAB 50 rankings.

Sam Jester scored twice as Appoquinimink routed Calvert Hall (Md.) 5-0 last week, earning this squad a spot in the Top 25. This week, Appoquinimink clashes with Salesianum in a match to determine the state's No. 1 ranking.
20 (20) Canton Canton, MI 17-0-3
Four players scored as Canton ripped Grand Blanc 4-1 in the KLAA championship match. Since the KLAA has 24 teams, winning that league title is more grueling than some of the classification state titles handed out during the fall season.
21 (21) Christian Brothers Sacramento, CA 10-1-2
Kristian Heptner scored four goals last week as Christian Brothers continued its strong season.
22 (22) Granite Bay Granite Bay, CA 12-1-0
Hunter Loomis delivered a goal in each outing as Granite Bay won a pair of contests last week.
23 (23) River Hill Clarksville, MD 12-0-0
River Hill defeated Howard County rivals Hammond 2-0 and Atholton 2-1 last week, with goals coming from four players.
24 (24) Milwaukee Marquette Milwaukee, WI 17-1-2
Samson D'Amato's late goal carried Marquette to a 2-1 win over Brookfield East in a battle of Wisconsin's top two teams.
